November Microsoft Patch Tuesday

Microsoft has announced four new patches today, including two that could allow remote code execution.  MS11-083 is rated Critical and Gladiator recommends all users install this patch as soon as possible.  MS11-085 is rated Important, but Gladiator recommends all users install this patch as soon as possible to patch a vulnerability that could lead to remote code execution.  Detailed information regarding the patches can be found in Microsoft’s November Security Bulletin.  Summary information is included below:

Microsoft has announced 16 new patches today to fix 16 vulnerabilities, including nine that could allow remote code execution.  Eight patches are rated Critical by Microsoft and affect Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Silverlight.  The seven other patches are rated Important by Microsoft and affect Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Visual Studio, and Microsoft Office.  Gladiator recommends that users with impacted systems apply all Critical patches immediately. Internet Explorer Out-of-Band Patch Released

Microsoft has a released a security update that patches 10 reported vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer.  The reported vulnerabilities could potentially allow attackers to execute remote code by tricking users into viewing specially-crafted web pages.  This security update is rated Critical for all releases of Internet Explorer and it is highly recommended that all users apply the patch immediately.  The Microsoft bulletin can be found here, and the update can be applied through Windows Update.
